Also, I'd ask just how much the annual fee is gonna be reduced to reflect this latest innovation.

Personally, I reckon they should only charge about ?5 a head now cos that's all it's worth! lol

The message from the fan club says they have passed the fan club over to another company. I can't help but wonder if the fanclub staff bit off a bit more than they could chew with taking on the job of running it, and now just passed us on without so much as a thought for the paying members. It's funny though, I'm, not so much pissed off about this because I'm a member and I'm worried about how it will affect me personally, I'm way past that LOL. What does bother me is the way it's been done, and that the members have been kind of dictated to.

<font size="3" face="Tempus sans ITC, Papyrus,Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I'm bloody positive that they bit off more then they could chew. It's always seemed to me to be run in a very amateurish and slapdash fashion.

As for the members being dictated to, that's nothing new is it? IMO, they've always treated us like mindless sheep who don't mind being spoken to like we're dogshit on their shoes. (I say 'us' cos they were like that when I was a member and I haven't seen anything to the contrary since I've left to make me change my mind).

They are in fact now making it a pre-requisite for fan club members to have computer access or be on-line and there are those people who are members who may not have or even want this even in this day and age.

The quality is going to be vastly inferior to the nice glossy mags if we have to print this off ourselves and costly for us in terms of ink cartridges.

I am really really majorly p-i-s-s-e-d off about this!! I guess it's a cheaper option for them but it certainly isn't for the fan club members unless they substantially reduce the membership/renewal fee.

<font size="3" face="Tempus sans ITC, Papyrus,Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Janie, someone put a link to the company that would run the f/c and the only 2 pics that they have is Darren's pic and Duran Duran pic. I clicked on the DD pic and it took me to the f/c for them. To join their fan club costs $35.00 usd, which is the same price as Darren's, but there is no mention of a magazine. They promise pics, backstage pics, tour packages, vip packages.

With saying that, I don't see them reducing the cost for the f/c. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.

Sarah McLachlan doesn't do a fan magazine or give out member cd's anymore, but offers fan club seats in the first 10 rows. I just when to her concert here in Vancouver last Friday and had 3rd row seats for me and my sister in law. But without the mag and other stuff, she only charges $14.00 Cad/ $10.00USD. It's not a bad site, d/l's of remixes. videos, contest run monthly or bi monthly, but the forum is not the best in my opinion. And again, with Darren going with this company, I really don't see a substantial drop in the fee. I'm going to miss my magazine, not the wait for it as we tend to get it after everybody else has had it for about 2 weeks, but will most definitely miss it.

I am well pissed off at the news

I've just had to join my 7yr old daughter as she's coming to the concerts with me and has to be a member to attend the soundcheck.
Knowing what i had when i joined she was looking forward to getting her goodies which, looking at the new site, it doesn't look like she'll be getting.

what the fuck have i just paid ?23 for????

oh and that's another thing..on the fc site it says we pay in US dollars, well that worked out at ?16.50, it was taken from the bank in AUS$ and cost ?23.16??

I belong to the Iron Maiden FC, a lot cheaper and they don't charge you to meet them

I haven't fully decided how I feel about all of this, and that is because I feel both excited and sad. I think there will be some really exciting things happening over at dhsings.com and I am really looking forward to all of it.

I am not the kind of person who is a member of the fanclub for only the magazine (I am not saying anyone here is in it just for the magazines, but I do know some that are), so although I really do cherish magazines and love to have them in my hands and read them in all sorts of weird places , I don't think I would be at a huge loss without it. I have many reasons behind my choice to be a member so although it will feel strange, for me, to not have a physical magazine I'm not going anywhere.

I am sure that all those involved in this new site, this new merger, have given thought to the fans who are not on-line and the fans that are owed magazines.. they must have. It probably would have been good to have made a small mention about that fact, in that mailout, because I think it would have eased many minds.

But all in all, I am pretty excited about everything going on.

Just mentioned this to the girls and we all agree no more magazines home delivered sucks

especially after they both so much wanted to be part of Darren's fanclub that I reluctantly agreed I should have known better so I feel VERY cross atm!

they both responded "what about fans who don't have online access?" "What a waste of money"

So I guess he truly has sold his soul, this is an artist I no longer 'feel a connection' to, sorry, he now feels like a business full stop - but you know I don't believe that will be an unhealthy thing for me personally.

Then again as someone who has complained of how unprofessionally the f/c was run at times it will be interesting to see how things go.

and well just seen him on the Today Show too, he was Today's E Spot with Richard Wilkins so it maybe online later

I'm not all that bothered because sadly I am rather indifferent about all this now, but being that we did spend the money and all, I guess it does piss me off. Because I keep thinking of what else I could have got for that cash [2 UD eyeshadows, a couple of DVDs, that top I've been eyeing...o.o] and...blah. I feel very sorry for those who do care a great deal about getting the glossy magazine, and for those who have limited or no online access. I mean, OK, so it's cheaper for the f/c to produce something online. But, in theory, with the *astounding* number of new members they've suddenly been bombarded with recently, one would think all that moolah would give them means to add things to the membership, not take them away.
